The winds have returned back to normal so I call for the Brooks site and the “test” balloon confirms that this site will work. Our passengers arrive and we have a “birthday gal” today so it will be a private flight for only these two. The gang gets the balloon out and we start the “cold pack” as Tim gets the folks checked in. The balloon is filled and it’s time to add the heat and have the passengers get on board. We are off the field and heading out to the south at an easy pace. We hook a bit to the west toward Knife Rivers gravel pits and I drop down for a nice reflection shot for the birthday girl. I stay low for a bit to keep the hook to the west then back up and head east. We cross over the blueberry nursery then on toward Keizer and our landing area for today. When I drop low for the west push it’s stronger (look at the track) than I figured and we miss the first LZ Country Glenn Park but the school is now on track. The gang is there waiting as I drop in for the shot and the catch. We get the balloon down and in the bag so the passengers can do the “sit”.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
