The forecast is for “light” winds today so I call for us to meet at City Hall and we will put up a test balloon and see what we really have on hand. We move to the school parking lot and get the gear unloaded and the balloon stretched out. We get the cold air pumped in then I add some heat and we are ready to load the passengers. We drift off the lot to the east then south at an easy pace. I get a bit higher and we drift back over the launch site then back over it again heading to the west. We zig and zag for most of the hour all over Keizer on all points of the compass. We get a good look at the “round a bout” that has had a detour set up for most of the summer and I have a shot for city hall as a LZ but get shoved off to the west and miss. I have the gang move to a parking lot that we have been in before and will be again. I set the shot and drop down low and send down a line for a tow to the lot off the street. We get the balloon deflated and tied in record time as this is a busy place on Saturday AM. We get the “sit” done and head back to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
