I call for our Keizer site at the Rapids Park and the pi-ball (test balloon) confirms this will work today. The gang gets the gear out and we get the cold air started to pump in. Cecil gets the heat added, the balloon is standing and we call for the passengers to come on board. We lift off the parking lot and drift slowly toward the river and cross into West Salem. The winds are VERY light and I look for ANYTHING….at any altitude but all I spot is fog to south. The hour is close to up and the gang is below so I set the shot for a road between a Hazelnut orchard and a large berry field for a rope drop and a tow a spot for the lay down big enough for Starship. It’s a tight fit and a muddy spot but we will make it work. The gals get the bag sit done and we head back across the bridges to Keizer for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
