Passengers: Vicki Childs, Chelsea Mc Allister, Jaxson Silmaro

We got a break in the weather and no fog this AM so we meet at Keizer for our pi-ball look at the upper winds. It looks like the school parking lot will work today as we nave a slow drift to the south. We move to the lot and have a real caravan as Miss Vicki has a lot of family along to see the kids fly. The gang gets to work on the balloon and soon we are pumping in the cold air. I call for the passengers to load up and we have a problem with Erin (the little blonde girl in the front row) as she has a fear of what we are doing so her family helps her out and she will stay on the ground. This is first for me; in 27 years of passenger hauling I’ve never had one balk. We are off the lot and on our way to the south at an easy pace. As usual I ascend slowly and find at 800 feet we are moving right along, about 16 MPH. We are at the meeting place (City Hall) before you know it and see that the church is setting up their carnival so no picnic there today. We travel down River Road to the south. Jaxson spots the chase crew in the Fred Meyer parking lot and the whole family is there too. They give a wave to them as we drift by heading a bit slower now to the south. I drop down a bit to check the winds and we hook a bit to the east. We are now in the old Hollywood area and we can really see the color change as this is an older area with a lot of tree varieties. We are close to the end of the hour so I spot the LZ in the Bush Park area. We have a large crane in the path and once we clear that we will slip past Mission St. and drop into the gang for the catch. It’s a tight spot on the soap box track but the gang gets us down without a scratch and we get the balloon ready for the bag. We head back to Keizer and move to another park just down the road for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
